The Brighton affix began with Henry of Brighton, whelped in 1908.
The affix passed to Lily's grandfather after World War II, and the first bloodhound registered in her own name was Rumba, bred by her grandfather, Mr. Frederick Hylden in 1948. In partnership with her grandfather, litters were then named in alphabetical order, from Rumba, notably Amber, then Bouquet, Challenger and Dominator.
This lead to the G-litter which provided the foundation of the Abingerwood kennel, Gala and Garland. Goliath, also from this litter, went to the Barsheen kennel to continue a line from Popsy of Brighton.
Until 1971, the hounds had been registered at the Kennel Club, as of Brighton, but before reaching the end of the alphabet, in line with other Kennel Club affixes, all the home bred hounds were given the prefix ‘Brighton's’. Hence the U's of Brighton, but ‘Brighton's V-litter’, with ‘A’-litters in 1972 and 1982.

In 1995, the third O-litter through the USCh. The Rectory's Bishop, combined the Native American line with the other line from Fantasia of Brighton which had provided the first all liver and tan litter registered at the Kennel Club. |
Lily now reserves her judging talents for special invitations.
